On our first day, our host Karen recommended this place. We woke up around 9PM to get ready for some Carmel Valley breakfast but it seems like we remembered Karen's suggestion wrong and realized when we got there that Cafe Rustica wasn't a breakfast place. We got there around 10:40 and spent a couple minutes trying to look for a breakfast place on Yelp but eventually we gave up and just decided to wait till Cafe Rustica opens.

I got the Rustica Burger. (For some reason, it's called the Country Burger in their website.)
It was great but I should have known that it was too heavy for me. Half a pound of ground sirloin!
Q ordered the Grilled Cheese on Brioche. I was actually looking at this as well but we wanted to try different things on the menu so we didn't order the same thing.
The food indeed met our expectations. The place was small so it felt kind of cramped but the weather was nice and most of our fellow customers quietly enjoyed their food so the ambiance was good. However, the memorable thing for me about this place was when our server came by to ask us how we were doing. I told him that the food was perfect but it was too overwhelming for me. He replied with "I know, I've been in LA. But you're working on it so you're good!". Thing is, we didn't mention that we're from LA. Was it obvious that we're Los Angelenos?
